The Keimyung University taekwondo team won the 44th national team competition which was held in Park Jeong-hui Gym in Gumi. The contest started on June 15 and continued for 6 days. They got 3 gold medals and one bronze medal in three male weight classes.Coach Jung Jae-jeong made a big contribution to the result of the Keimyung University team. Jung was a gold medalist at the Egypt World Taekwondo Championships in 1989 and became Keimyung University taekwondo team coach in 2009. The spring kendo championship for universities was held from May 9 to 11 at Chungbuk Boeun National Sport Center.On May 11, for the first time, Keimyung University kendo team won the championship. Going into the final, they had won each game by only one point. In round 1, they beat Incheon University 3 to 2. In round 2, they beat Sungkyunkwan University 4 to 3. On April 28, KMU President Synn Ilhi carried out fund-raising with faculty members through Keimyung Caritas. 50 million won was collected and delivered to Daegu Community Chest of Korea in order to help the families of the Sewol ferry victims.KMU student council also conducted several programs. Keimyung University volunteers held a photo exhibition documenting the 2013 volunteering in Laos at CU Gallery. In the exhibition, there were pictures of volunteering and cultural performances at Van Chein Elementary School in Vientiane, Laos.Keimyung University sent 140 students to Cambodia, Sri Lanka, and Laos for two weeks. The Healing Food Project Team of Keimyung University held the Mungyeong Saejae Healing Camp from February 21 to 23 at Mungyeong Saejae youth hostel. In December, KMU received the 2013 University Evaluations from the Ministry of Education and the Korean Council for University Education. The University Evaluations were first implemented in 2011 to promote international campuses, the quality of universities, and their continuous improvement.The evaluation process is very complicated. There are 54 criteria. The process includes documentation and survey evaluation, verification of evaluation results, the university’s self-evaluation, the chief of the evaluation group’s final review, and review by the University Evaluations committee.KMU was cho
