On November 16th-17th, 30 international exchange students along with some Korean students from Keimyung University joined a cultural tour in Andong. Organized by the Korean Studies Advancement Center and supported by national and local authorities, the program showcased Korea’s cultural heritage. Participants visited Hahoe Village, Byeongsan Seowon, Buyongdae, Bongjeongsa, and Dosan Seowon. They also experienced traditional activities such as woodblock printing and exploring the Confucian Culture Museum. The tour provided a valuable opportunity to connect with Korea’s cultural history.
On November 8th, 2024, 77 French exchange and study-abroad students participated in a unique cultural excursion in Daegu, sponsored by the DGIEA Korean-Italian Association. The day’s itinerary included a visit to Gunparkrugi Theme Park, an engaging persimmon-picking experience at Songgeum Green Rural Village, and a thrilling rail bike ride. The event provided the students with a meaningful opportunity to immerse themselves in Korea’s cultural and rural heritage while enjoying memorable outdoor activities.
The Dongsan Library of Keimyung University held library training for international students. The beginner class was held on November 7th and the advanced class was held on November 12th in X-Space. The program, which was designed to support the academic activities of international students, was divided into two parts: the beginner class, which focused on how to use Korean learning materials; and the advanced class, which covered how to use domestic and international academic articles. sumin8101g@hanmail.net
On November 19th, the K-MOM Adaptation Program was hosted by the Student Counseling Center at Keimyung University. The K-MOM program, which aims to help international students adjust to school life, covered topics such as interpersonal relationships, career, and employment. On September 27th, the Sangsang Color Festival was held at the small field on Seongseo Campus. The festival featured food and activity boothsrun by internationalstudents, as well as a color zone where participants enjoyed music and threw color powder. The color powder throwing event was inspired by India’s Holi Festival, where participants threw the powder while wishing each other blessings.sumin8101g@hanmail.net
On October 7-8th, the Extracurricular Week event was held near The New Bauer Hall at Keimyung University. It included a Student Best Practices Presentation which is an exhibition of over 100 outstanding extracurricular works, and departmental promotion booths. To celebrate the 125th anniversary of KMU, “World Food Day” was held on Wednesday, October 30th. This event provided a valuable opportunity for international students to introduce cuisine from their country, with a total of 17 countries participating and 17 food booths representing the various nations. Seven books authored by Keimyung University professors have been selected as 2024 Excellent Academic Books by the National Academy of Sciences of Korea. The selected books include two in the humanities and also two in the social sciences, and three in the natural sciences. The excellent academic book project publishes about 300 academic books every year. These books will be distributed to university libraries across Korea starting in October. sumin8101g@hanmail.net
