KMU Archery Coach and Alumna Receive Prestigious Sports Awards

On November 12th, Keimyung University’s archery coach Ryu Su-jeong and alumna Jang Hye-jin were awarded the Cheongnyong Medal at the 2024 Sports Development Merit Awards and the 62nd Korea Sports Awards Ceremony, hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. 
The Cheongnyong Medal is the highest award among the five levels of sports merit awards, this year, a total of six individuals were honored, including Coach Ryu and alumna Jang in the coach and athlete categories, respectively. 
Coach Ryu, has achieved notable successes, including serving as head coach of the national women’s archery team during the 2014 Incheon Asian Games and the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Her protégé, alumna Jang, has an outstanding record as an athlete, securing gold medals in the individual and team events at the 2016 Rio Olympics and in the team event at the 2018 Jakarta-Palembang Asian Games. 
Expressing her feelings about the honor, Jang stated, "It is even more joyful to receive the Cheongnyong Medal alongside my mentor, Coach Ryu Su-jeong."
