KMU held a Korean language and culture camp on Seongseo Campus on August 4. The students came from Switzerland, Japan, and all around Europe.This camp held various programs for three weeks. There were Korean language classes in the morning and various Korean culture classes in the afternoon. Students put on hanbok, did taekwondo, took samulnori lessons, had lessons in K-pop dancing, and went to a jjimjilbang. The 2014 Baja SAE Korea for undergraduates was held in Yeungnam University from July 3 to 5. The Speeding team, composed of students in Mechanical and Automotive Engineering in KMU, participated in this competition.In 2001, this competition received the approval of the Society of Automotive Engineers. On August 11, Keimyung University won the Master Prize at the H-Star Festival. The festival was held in the main hall of Daehakro Arts Theater, Jongno-gu, Seoul.The festival was held by Hyundai Motor Group and the Korea Association of Performing Arts Producers and sponsored by about 16 cultural and artistic organizations including the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism. There was a special lecture celebrating the tenth anniversary of the foundation of European Studies at Smith Hall on July 3. The subject of the lecture was Korea-EU relations and the FTA. The Keimyung University taekwondo team won the 44th national team competition which was held in Park Jeong-hui Gym in Gumi. The contest started on June 15 and continued for 6 days. They got 3 gold medals and one bronze medal in three male weight classes.Coach Jung Jae-jeong made a big contribution to the result of the Keimyung University team. Jung was a gold medalist at the Egypt World Taekwondo Championships in 1989 and became Keimyung University taekwondo team coach in 2009. The spring kendo championship for universities was held from May 9 to 11 at Chungbuk Boeun National Sport Center.On May 11, for the first time, Keimyung University kendo team won the championship. On April 28, KMU President Synn Ilhi carried out fund-raising with faculty members through Keimyung Caritas. 50 million won was collected and delivered to Daegu Community Chest of Korea in order to help the families of the Sewol ferry victims.KMU student council also conducted several programs.
