Korea-EU Relations and FTA



There was a special lecture celebrating the tenth anniversary of the foundation of European Studies at Smith Hall on July 3. The subject of the lecture was Korea-EU relations and the FTA. The ambassador of the EU, Tomasz Kozlowski, gave the speech.

The lecture started with a welcoming speech from President Synn Ilhi of Keimyung University. Ambassador Kozlowski started with a brief introduction of the EU. After the introduction, there was an explanation of the reasons the EU concluded the FTA with Korea. The ambassador said that the EU saw the potential of Korea through the countries that Korea trades with, since the countries are spread around the world.

Ambassador Kozlowski explained the advantage that Korea will get through the FTA. The ambassador mentioned future cooperation in which the EU will suggest solutions to the problems that Korea now has by comparing Korea’s problems with their experiences in fields like trade leadership, climate change, political security, and human rights. The lecture concluded with question and answer time.
