On March 6, the Keimyung student council announced their stance against North Korean refugees’ compulsory repatriation by the Chinese government, and started to gather signatures to stop the compulsory repatriation.The student council showed concern about the freedom and human rights of the refugees, and urged a stop to the compulsory repatriation. Also, they urged the Korean government, civic groups, and student organizations to take part in this movement. On the first day of gathering signatures, 750 people, including not only students but also faculty members, signed in front of Bauer hall.

On February 20, it was announced that a new educational program, Creativity, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship (CIE) will be run. It is designed to find and support talented freshmen in setting up businesses, and to cultivate the ability of faculty members to teach students setting up businesses. The CIE program, which was carried out last year, had positive effects on professors and staff for setting up business, and it was decided that the CIE would be expanded to freshmen. Keimyung University has been selected as the only regional university Korean language institute for the Korean Government Scholarship Program. The Korean Government Scholarship Program has been run since 2008, and KMU has been selected as a training institution consistently. This year will mark the 10th anniversary of the overseas voluntary service of Keimyung University. For the last 10 years, Keinyung students have performed voluntary service in China, Nepal, Vietnam, Mongolia, the Philippines, Cambodia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Laos, and Myanmar. Prior to sending volunteers, the Overseas Voluntary Service Team surveys the region and items such as school supplies and equipment for education to offer people practical assistance. Volunteers have to wear uniforms, vests, and hats given by Keimyung University and they must not act individually and take photographs du
