On July 7, Keimyung University was again selected for the ACE (Advancement of College Education) project, after being first selected in 2011. This project receives funds from the Korean Council for University Education and the Ministry of Education. The 15th KMU Open University Program was held at the Seongseo and Daemyung campuses of KMU from July 21 to 22. This program is an event for high school students to experience university life. KMU was the first to start a university experience program in Daegu and Gyeongbuk.There were about 1700 participants from 62 high schools. Most of the participants were second graders from Daegu, Ulsan, Gyeongbuk, and Gyeongnam. Three books published by Keimyung University Press were chosen as Sejong Books in the scholarship section. Sejong Books has scholarly, cultural, and literature sections. Sejong Scholarship Books is run by the government every year to accelerate scholarly publishing work and to make the foundations of a knowledge society. Kim Dong-hwi (Department of Education) was selected for the Global Undergraduate Exchange Program (UGRAD) by the U.S. State Department. This program provides part of the expenses such as tuition, airfare, living expenses, and medical insurance to selected students from around the world with ECA (Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs) support. Selected students spend one semester or one year as an exchange student in an American university. This time, they selected four students from 500 applicants across Korea. On May 20 at Adams Chapel, there was a ceremony for the 116th anniversary of Keimyung University. At the beginning, classical music welcomed the visitors. Jung-Sun Moe, chairman of the board, gave awards to certify the achievements of Prof. Park Chang-Il, Prof. Seanan Clifford, and Prof. Yang Geun-Woo, and President Synn Ilhi gave awards to faculty members for their outstanding achievements such as research papers and lectures.
