From the 25th to 26th of September, the Whole Club Union festival was held. Various clubs from KMU prepared taverns and events in front of Bauer Hall and in minor ground to advertise their club’s activities. To celebrate the festival, the band club performed on the 25th, and also rapper Woo Won-Jae came to celebrate with a performance on the 26th.Though many clubs and students participated, the minor ground felt a little empty. More promotions and more interests are needed to attract more people and to makemore fun festival which will the goal for the next festival.
KMU has decided to proceed with a Mutual Exchange Program of Humanities Lectures with Dong-A University and Hanyang University to vitalize the field of the humanities. Keimyung University student Hye-Ryung Choi was selected for a government sponsored exchange program by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Ports, Science and Technology (MEXT). Hye-ryung, who is majoring in Japanese Language and Literature, will leave to Japan this October where she will study at Okinawa Ryuku University for one year. She will enjoy some benefits such as tuition exemption, receive a free return flight ticket and a scholarship every month of about 1.2 million Korean won. From August 22nd to August 23rd, the CORE project group in KMU carried out the Humanities Integrated Enterprise Inquiry in Jeju. The group went to the head office of KAKAO, the NEXON Computer Museum, the Lee Jung Seop Art Museum and International Convention Center Jeju. Keimyung University's Dongsan Library held ‘Library Resource-sharing Mentoring’ program on from August 7. Library resource-sharing is for university students to volunteer for improving local libraries-specifically, school and small scale libraries. Since 2011, at the beginning of summer vacation, this library resource-sharing mentoring has been implemented seven times a year. Through this program, university students have volunteered to do various activities such as reading books, painting a mural, and arranging bookshelves. The Publication Industry Promotion Agency of Korea (KPIPA) announced that they selected 320 scholarly books from across ten fields as ‘2017 scholarly books of Sejong’. KPIPA judged 4,013 scholarly books which were published from March last year to February this year. From these judged books, five scholarly books written by KMU professors were selected. The Keimyung University Taekwondo Performance Team won second place in the Senior Taekwondo Gymnastic Competition, at the 2017 Anyang World Taekwondo Hanmadang. This festival was held between July 29th and August 1st with 64 countries and 5732 athletes. The Taekwondo Gymnastic Competition was held on the 31st.The team which consisted of Gayeon Gang and 8 other members was considered as a rising star of this competition. The Keimyung University Judo team won gold in the team event at the 2017 Summer National Men’s and Women’s University Judo Championship which ended at Inje Gymnasium in Gangwon-do on July 14th. This means that the KMU team got the championship flag back after three years. Also, a coach, Bae Jin-beom and an athlete, Lee Hong-joo from the Keimyung University Judo team won the best coach and the most valuable player award (MVP). Furthermore, Lee Hong-joo got the bronze medal in the individual event under-81kg division.
