The opening ceremony of the traveling exhibition ‘Packing Art of Joseon Dynasty’ was held on the first floor of the Hengso Museum on May 14th. The special exhibition, which runs from May 14th to July 14th, will display 43 items and 80 pieces related to Joseon’s royal packaging art, which is owned by the National Palace Museum of Korea. Shin Il-hi, president of Kemiyung University, mentioned through the ceremony that many people, including students, faculty members and Daegu citizens, could directly appreciate the wisdom of our ancestors who used to formally decorate package.
On May 9th, 2018, the 5th Asia-Pacific International Chopin Piano Competition was held at Keimyung University. It was offered as an opportunity for talented young pianists around the world. The final round, which started May 9th lasted until May 15th. The award ceremony and the winning concert were held on May 18th, following the Junior Championship on May 16th and the Senior Finals on May 17th. The chief of the National Police Agency in Daegu came to KMU on May 3rd of this year. He came to address students across all majors that are interested in becoming police officers in the future. For the potential future police officers, this program showed three subjects. The first was the devotion of the prosecution between investigations, the second was improvement of the way to request an arrest warrant, and the final was the revolution of the policing structure. Through this program, students were able to get more information which is not usually accessible.
On March 23rd, the Ability Reinforcement Program for incoming faculty was opened in the New Bauer Hall. This program is based on the education of essential abilities for the newly appointed faculty members and is supported by the Center for Teaching & Learning at KMU. The ability reinforcement has been operating since 2015 and was implemented for the first time at KMU among all universities in Korea.
