On May 10, 2017, Students in the Department of Music Production at Keimyung Artech College performed “The First Wave” concert at Buer Hall. This concert is welcoming presentation for freshman.The ensemble of vocals and several instruments including electric guitars, keyboards, and drum performed music arranged by students. To close the concert, students sang "Our Dream" the theme song of the Japanese animation "One Piece".The concert ended successfully with applause by the audience. Future performances by the Department of Music Production are expected after the success of this concert.
On May 2, 2017, a special lecture by a domestic businessman who had experience working in India was held at the College of Business Administration in KMU. The businessman was Park Sang-gil, a representative of SG Autotech Solutions PVT. LTD. The contents of the lecture were regarding India’s recent industrial, entrepreneurial, and employment trends. Currently, there is a serious conflict between Korea and China over THAAD, and Keimyung has been conducting concentrated efforts to reduce tensions over the conflict. Last December, Keimyung conducted a campaign in China to improve relations between Korea and China. Also, this year on April 4 at noon, Keimyung held a Korean-Chinese culture of cooperation campaign. On March 20 to 24, Keimyung University’s Student Council and the College of Physical Education held a campaign for fire fighter Choi Gil-su at Bauer Hall and the Dongsan Library. He graduated from Keimyung in 2005, and became a fire fighter in January 2017. After he saved two kids and their parents from a fire, he had to jump from the 3rd floor to escape. Unfortunately, he broke his spine in the fall. In honor of his sacrifice, students decided to raise money to help pay for his treatment. At the 2017 Daegu International Textile Fair, which was held from March 8-10, KMU students from the Fashion Marketing Department attracted a lot of attention. They participated in the fair as Da-Mi Lab (Daegu-Milano Laboratory), which was a joint Daegu-Milan booth. The students were responsible for installing and planning the booth, talking about products, directing products’ design, and exhibiting them. At the fair, they exhibited five bags that were designed by fashion marketing students for their graduation exhibition last year and made by artisans of a company called Gli Artegianim Ilano.
Synn Il-hi, KMU president, visited Poland and Hungary from February 19 to 26 to develop relationships with two European universities. He first visited Jakiellonian University to finalize an exchange agreement about exchange scholarships, student exchange programs and exchanges of professors and staff. Also, President Synn visited Liszt Conservatoire in Budapest, Hungary. He discussed an activation plan for the Kodaly program and a joint degree in conservatoire. President Synn said, “I am very glad about the scholarship exchange agreement with prestigious universities in Europe.”
On Jan. 10, U.S. Ambassador Mark Lippert visited Keimyung University’s Taekwondo Center. Ambassador Lippert has a huge interest in Taekwondo, so he visited KMU Taekwondo Center and watched a taekwondo performance. KMU’s Taekwondo Performance Team has won many awards for taekwondo techniques and gymnasticsAmbassador Lippert said, “Every country has their own distinct martial art. Korea’s taekwondo is attractive enough to be an Olympic event. Rather than focusing on attacking, developing spirit and skills to defend oneself are the attractive element of Taekwondo.”
It is currently a topic of interest in the Keimyung University online community that a student gave a security guard a camp bed.The student is a Keimyung Engineering College student, and he wrote that the guard slept on a small desk not a bed.After writing about this situation, a camp bed was delivered in front of the night-duty room within a few days.
