On February 8th, Dongsan Hospital announced that they established the nation’s first autonomic nerve clinic, which diagnoses and treats problems of the autonomic nervous system systemically.The problems caused by the autonomic nervous system include common symptoms such as cold hands and feet, excess or insufficient sweating, indigestion, and dizziness. On February 10, the ceremony of awarding scholarships was held in Keimyung University’s Hengso museum audio-visual room. 58 students were awarded scholarships, which were donated by individual sponsors, and 20 students were awarded scholarships which were donated by supporter's organizations. Kim Eun-jin (23, freshman, Dept. of Nursing), a volunteer interpreter at the International Clinic in Dongsan Hospital, has helped foreigners who visit Dongsan Hospital since 2009. She helps foreign patients to make a reservation for hospitalization and to find proper medical treatment. The number of foreigners who visit the hospital are about 20 to 30 a day. On January 6, the Dendenmusi (“snail” in Japanese) team, from the Department of Japanese Language and Literature, was chosen as the best club in the JPT (Japanese Proficiency Test) competition held by YBM Si-Sa. The team received 3,000,000 won in prize money.The Dendenmusi team members shared their know-how of the JPT test and took a mock JPT test regularly. From January 4 to 6, Education for International Citizens (EFIC) was held in Dong Yeong Hall for local high school students. There were 45 high school students from Songhyun, Kyunghwa, and Wonhwa girls' high schools. EFIC was designed to provide international comprehension and multi-cultural experiences.
