Whenever I read the Gazette, I feel the Gazette always pays careful attention to the voices of Keimyung students. In the case of the changed newspaper version of the Gazette, I think it is from the Gazette's intention to include what is happening on campus and what the students need more than before.I like most sections of the Gazette. To name just one, it is the "Column" section that I like most. Academic writings written by Keimyung University professors give me many lessons while reading them. The corner makes me think about many of the issues that I have not thought of and gives me the cha
It’s been a long time since I read the Keimyung Gazette. The Gazette was the first English magazine which I read at university. Therefore, it has very special meaning to me. The first Gazette I read was made up of 36 pages, and it did not have full-color pages. The 125th magazine was redesigned inside. I thought the effort was neat and well-done. Hopefully, KMG reporters will keep trying new attempts and styles. As a big fan of the Gazette, I want to give them some advice. Hopefully, they will take these tips seriously. I think the Gazette has a lack of public relations. Some of the students in
On December 19 2007, Lee Myung-bak was elected the 17th president of South Korea. President Lee was elected with 50.2% support. This was much higher than the other presidential nominees. The Gazette asked Keimyung students about their hopes for the next presidency. President Lee, I heard you say the following in a public broadcast: “I will create a world where young people can choose good jobs,” “I will unfailingly revive the economy,” and “I will serve our nation and people.” They are impressive words that I cannot help admiring. Though I didn't vote for you as president, I am with you in con
I was glad to find more good reading in the Gazette, and now I am one of those who looks forward to the next issue. It takes a lot of time for me to read the whole magazine and sometimes I pause, but considering the time reporters devote to articles, the time to read them is very short. I think it is a good space that allows communication between foreigners and students who enjoy English. By the way, I have one question. How often do you release the magazine? It is very exciting to give my opinion to the magazine’s makers. I just want to say one quick point instead of the usual thanks. It is ab
The 4th Educational Broadcasting System International Documentary Festival was held from August 27 to September 2. I was honored to be selected as a special judge to watch, review, and rate twelve documentaries. It was a very worthwhile experience, and I was very happy to see the twelve documentaries. All the documentaries were excellent and impressive, but I want to introduce you to the one movie, Shame. Mukhtar, a Pakistani woman, was publicly gang raped by members of a higher class in 2002. The attackers said it was punishment for Mukhtar’s younger brother dating a woman of their class. A p
Recently, I saw the movie Babel again. I experienced a world in which people can’t communicate when I saw Babel. Babel describes a clash of people who live in different worlds. The director Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu focuses on a sense of alienation among people in America, Mexico, Morocco, and Japan. Babel has four stories: the story of an American married couple who lose their third baby, Moroccan children who are misunderstood as terrorists, a Japanese father and his daughter who is a deaf-mute, and a Mexican woman who slips across the American border. These people face serious problems. A
I must thank you for your hard work which helps me reduce my boring time. I am a new student from China and came to Korea for my graduate study. I have been here for about only ten days. This is the first time I have come to an unfamiliar country, far away from my parents, friends, and hometown. And what is more I still cannot speak Korean, so I am blind, deaf, and dumb. Except with Chinese, I cannot with communicate others. I know nothing about this city and this university. How lucky I am to have found this magazine. It is very useful for me because it introduces a lot of information about t
Every time my parents suggest mountain climbing together, I usually tell them that I have an appointment or I am tired because I don’t like climbing. Nevertheless, I reluctantly climbed Naeyeon Mountain in Pohang during the training program of the Gazette in winter vacation. Three junior reporters insisted on climbing, and I had to go because of my responsibility as theeditor-in-chief. In fact, I intended to dissuade them at the halfway point. When we reached the halfway point, I suddenly had a desire to climb to the mountaintop. However, I soon regretted my decision. The way to the top had wro
