Yellow Ribbons and the Gazette

Every time my parents suggest mountain climbing together, I usually tell them that I have an appointment or I am tired because I don’t like climbing. Nevertheless, I reluctantly climbed Naeyeon Mountain in Pohang during the training program of the Gazette in winter vacation. Three junior reporters insisted on climbing, and I had to go because of my responsibility as theeditor-in-chief. In fact, I intended to dissuade them at the halfway point. When we reached the halfway point, I suddenly had a desire to climb to the mountaintop. However, I soon regretted my decision.

The way to the top had wrong direction boards and no visitors from whom we could ask the way. Furthermore, the trail was faint because leaves were piled up on the ground, and we did not know where we were. Many scenes flashed into my head: a taxi driver telling us stories of sufferers on the mountain, a ticket agent warning us that the mountain has a steep path, and taking a picture in front of a warning post. I was fearful and worried about being lost on the mountain. The junior reporters stared at me blankly and waited for my words.

At that minute, I fortunately saw yellow ribbons. The ribbons were written by Kang Ho-jin on December 10, 2006, and were tied around branches. Maybe he or she also got lost like us and tied the ribbons to prevent an accident. We followed the ribbons, and finally we reached the top.

I think that the Gazette is a yellow ribbon. For example, we examine the service programs of Keimyung University in Cover Story. The article indicates how to participate in service programs. We show "Pop Art" in Art and Culture. In Alumnus, you can meet Kim Ju-bum. You can learn a challenging mind and pride in Keimyung people through him. All the articles of Gazette No. 123 give information that you want and need. The information will help you to reach your goal. Most of all, like Kang Ho-jin, the reporters of the Gazette also take the initiative in getting news.
