From January 7 to 25, the first Pre-English House program for freshmen was held in the International Education Center. The placement test and orientation were held on December 28. Keimyung University freshman Jeong Sa-rang, often called a linguistic genius, won first prize in the university section of the first national Russian speech contest. The contest, in which 80 teams participated, was held at Yonsei University. Sa-rang’s five minute speech was entitled “What I know about Russia.”The judges were unsparing in their praise for her at the awarding ceremony which was held in the hall of the Korea Economic Daily.
