Pre- English House for Freshmen

From January 7 to 25, the first Pre-English House program for freshmen was held in the International Education Center. The placement test and orientation were held on December 28. About 40 students attended this program, which lasted for three weeks. New freshmen studied for six hours a day from Monday to Friday, starting at 9 a.m. and finishing at 4 p.m.

There were four classes in the program, which was organized into four parts: speaking and writing by foreign teachers, and then reading and listening by Korean teachers. After the program, students received a certificate and can apply for the ESPT (English Speaking Proficiency Test) for free. In addition, they can apply for the mock TOEIC once this year, and take the ELF (English Like a Foreigner) Keimyung TOEIC online class for a month in February.

The students said that through this program, they could improve their English level and make friends with different majors’ students more easily. The Pre-English House for new freshmen will be held every winter vacation. It will add more useful lectures from the next program.
