From January 10 to 29, Keimyung University and the student association negotiated over tuition fee increases.
The main reasons for increasing the tuition fee were inflation, employing new teaching staff, and construction work. At first, the university suggested an increase of 9.6%, but the student association could not agree with that suggestion. After 22 negotiations, they both agreed to increase fees by 5.7% this year. Through this negotiation, the university will run one more school bus to north Chilgok and will use 0.4% of the tuition fee for student welfare facilities.
In the case of other universities, Yeungnam University and Daegu University increased tuition fees by 5.6% and 5.9% respectively, and Kyungpook National University had the highest tuition increases by as much as 14%.
