On August 29, the orientation for foreign scholarship graduate students and the Buddy program was held at Keimyung University. About 230 students from 72 countries and their Korean buddies participated in this orientation. This orientation was mainly focused on the upcoming Korean education program for foreign graduate students. From this September 1st for a year, foreign students will take classes with professors who specialize in Korean Education. The 60th anniversary celebration of the foundation of Keimyung University was held on May 20. This ceremony was held in Adams Chapel and President Synn Ilhi, Lee Byeong-chan, president of the alumni association, Jung Sun-moo, chairman of the board of governors, and many school personnel and students participated in this event. KMU held a Korean language and culture camp on Seongseo Campus on August 4. The students came from Switzerland, Japan, and all around Europe.This camp held various programs for three weeks. There were Korean language classes in the morning and various Korean culture classes in the afternoon. Students put on hanbok, did taekwondo, took samulnori lessons, had lessons in K-pop dancing, and went to a jjimjilbang. There was an opening ceremony for the Foundation Support Center in the Wellness Gym on September 2. The services available at the Foundation Support Center are provided by KMU and supported by the Korea Sports Promotion Foundation. On August 12, KMU was chosen to house The Addiction to Gambling Clinic organized by the Korea Center on Gambling Problems. This service provides methodical prevention, cure and rehabilitation services for gambling addicts. It also informs people through education about the seriousness of the negative and harmful effects of gambling. KMU was selected as the Daegu-Kyungbook Region licensee through last a contest managed by the Korea Center on Gambling Problems in June. The Green Light Team, make up of three KMU students majoring in the Department of Business Administration, won the 4th University Student Advertising Competition grand prize on December 29. The competition was held by the Korea Deposit Insurance Corporation (KDIC). The team Infinite planted trees and taught children about safety and how to study in a service center in Dasa.
