The 60th anniversary celebration of the foundation of Keimyung University was held on May 20. This ceremony was held in Adams Chapel and President Synn Ilhi, Lee Byeong-chan, president of the alumni association, Jung Sun-moo, chairman of the board of governors, and many school personnel and students participated in this event. The ceremony was smaller than scheduled to mourn the victims of the Sewol disaster.

After the opening ceremony, people saluted the national flag, and the audience had a minute’s silence for the victims of the Seweol disaster. After that, Lee Byeong-chan and President Synn Ilhi gave prizes to staff. President Synn Ilhi gave a long speech.
President Synn said, “60 years ago, Keimyung University was founded to give hope to this city. Thanks to the professors, staff, and people that have given keen interest and help to our school.”

He also said, “To achieve better results in education and academic research, we will start structural reform. This reform will be painful, but we have to go through this process for international competitiveness in education and academic research.”
