On January 19, President Synn Il-hi received a letter of appointment as the Italian honorary consul to Korea, authorized by the Italian Government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Korea at the special conferment ceremony in the Korean and Italian Association’s ordinary general meeting. The board, made from the wood of the paulownia tree, has the carved names of each Keimyung University student who received a Bisa Scholarship since 1979.The Bisa Scholarship Board used to appear in graduation ceremonies in Keimyung University every year, following its introduction by President Synn Il-hi in 1978. On November 5, Kim Jin-myung, a senior in the Department of English Language and Literature, was selected to join the 2009 Study of the U.S. Institute for Korean Undergraduate Student Leaders. Since September, the U.S Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) has tested university students through resume submission, English screening, a telephone interview, and a final videophone interview.
