On September 14, the Border Research Center of Keimyung University and the Korea Political Science Association held an international academic conference at Keimyung University to analyze territorial issues and policies embraced by Korea, China, Russia, and Japan. On September 19, the Songguk-ri Cultural Assets Exhibition from the Bronze Age has opened. This exhibition will be on display until December 8, 2018 on the first floor of the Hengso Museum. The subtitle of this event is ‘Settled Agrarian Society and the Establishment of Ancestor Worship Culture’, so there are earthenware, stone blades and arrowheads used for farming and hunting in the Bronze Age in Korea. Photographer Changmo Park who actively performs as a member of the Society of Modern Photographic Images and works for the PR Team of Keimyung University held his third solo exhibition titled ‘Dalsung Park’ at Daegu Arts Power Plant in September. Through this exhibition, Park displayed 41 art pieces illustrating Dalsung Park across four areas: those who visited Dalsung Park in 2018, images of Dalsung Park in the old days, animal spaces, and historic Dalsung earthen ramparts. Keimyung University’s Center for Continuing Education has opened ‘The 1st Global Women’s Leadership Academy: Finding a Point of View as a Cultural and Art City’ for Daegu citizens in 2018. The Global Women’s Leadership Academy is a program hosted by the Center for Continuing Education at KMU and offers a wide range of programs aimed at overseas cultures and arts education. The program runs every Tuesday and Wednesday for 13 weeks from September 11 to November 7, and this program selects a particular city and explores its culture and art each semester. Students at Keimyung University held a Flea Market on September 10th and 11th of this semester. A total of four colleges: Business Administration, Engineering, Social Science and Artech College, voluntarily participated in the flea Market at the small stadium of Seongseo Campus, and collected 3,000 items of clothing and necessities. Students visited Sinae Orphanage, a social welfare company, on September 15th to donate all of their profits. Moreover, about 200 items that were left after the sale were donated to The Beautiful Store and at this very meaningful event.
The Keimyung archery team has received lots of attention due to record setting performances in a few contests this year. Park Sung-cheol, a member of the team, got first place in the All-Korea Archery Tournament. Park won a gold medal by recording 331 points in the 90m event, and set a new record by recording 349 points in the 70m event. Moreover, he won the triple crown by also getting the gold medal in the 50m event. This is his second straight win after having received two gold medals in the last contest. The Confucius Institute at Keimyung University has produced a number of Chinese government scholarship students reconfirming its status as a leading institution in Chinese language education in Korea. The institute held a departure orientation for 28 Chinese government trained students at Uiyanggwan on August 27. The Hengso Museum of Keimyung University was selected as the University Museum Promotion Project for 2018. From August 1st to November 30th, an education program for the Hengso Museum Relics Explorer program will be held. The program is renamed as the experience and exploration of cultural relics combined with cultural properties representing the Hengso Museum. People from low-income and multicultural families, as well as elementary, middle, high school and college students are able to participate for free.
