Keimyung Humanities Capability Reinforcement Business Organization announced on January 19th that they had recently signed a cooperation agreement for practical training abroad with the local travel agency ‘Adstra Tour’ at the office of Adstra Tour in Mexico. Free Spanish lectures were from January 2nd to 19th hosted by the Core Project for students who want to start studying Spanish for the first time. There were more than 3 courses provided, and every class was provided for 3 weeks over the winter vacation. One course was for beginners who wanted to begin with grammar, and another was for students who wanted to begin with conversation this class was taught by a foreign professor. The final course was for students who want to take a Diploma of Spanish as a Foreign Language, also known as DELE, and it was available to any student who belongs to the
Keimyunggeukuhoe, a Keimyung theater group, was invited from the National Student Theater Festival of Japan. They participated in the festival from Feb. 24 to Feb. 27 watching the students’ plays, and on Feb 26, they performed their own play named ‘A Life Thief’. The story is about the ‘Life of Two Thieves’ who rob each other’s life by robbing each other’s stuff. After watching the Japanese plays and performing their own play, the Keimyung students gathered with the local students and had a celebration. The group returned from Japan on Feb 27.
A special exhibition of Bronze Age artifacts from Daegu and Gyeongsangbuk-do is being held until March 31st in Hengso Museum. This exhibition is based on a 10-year excavation and investigation by The Samhan Institute of Cultural Properties. There are many relics such as earthenware, stone blades, stone axes and pictures explaining where these relics are from.This exhibition is a good chance to see the process of development and decline of the Bronze Age in Daegu and Gyeongsangbuk-do. KMU held the 121st Keimyung Women’s Studies Seminar in Uiyang Hall on November 21st, 2017. The seminar was hosted by the Graduate School of Policy and The Institute for Women's Studies. The topic of the women’s studies seminar is a human understanding of philosophical counseling for female client-centered therapy. This topic begins by expressing the critical awareness that female client-centered therapy should be based on human understanding about the concrete suffering of women from the point of view of philosophical counseling. Old bible exhibition was held from October 30th to November 10th at Dongsan library archives the 7th floor. KMU held this exhibition that was one of the events celebrating quincentenary of the Reformation. Dongsan library exhibited 30 rare bibles and books about the Reformation. For exampe, including domestic data of 'the New Testament', 'Jesus Mission Testament', there were inaccessible data of 'Italian Bible', 'Luther German Bible' published overseas. To celebrate Jane Austen, a celebrated author who is as popular as Shakespeare despite only publishing 8 works, a lecture was offered on October 24th. Professor Yeong-sun Won from Seoul Woman’s University gave a lecture on Jane Austen’s introduction to love affairs through her literature, Pride and prejudice. Also, through a Q&A session, she resolved misunderstandings about Jane Austen. The lecture was hosted by the Core project team and the Department of English Language and Literature to mark the 200th anniversary of her death. On October 13th, the ambassador of Colombia visited Keimyung University and met KMU students who attended his lecture. The lecture was for about an hour and the ambassador introduced Colombia and expressed an expectation of the development of relationships between Korea and Colombia. There were some quizzes and a Q&A session so that students could participate in the lecture. Colombia was the only country from South America which helped Korea during the Korean War and KMU also has a special relationship with Colombia.
