To celebrate the 125th anniversary of KMU, “World Food Day” was held on Wednesday, October 30th. This event provided a valuable opportunity for international students to introduce cuisine from their country, with a total of 17 countries participating and 17 food booths representing the various nations. KMU’s German cultural experience event received enthusiastic feedback from students. The event, held over five weeksstarting from October 16, involves students from various nationalities. In 2021, Professor Kwon Oh-kyun (Civil Engineering) donated 100 million KRW to establish the firstscholarship fund for the “Keimyung Plus” initiative. This program allows donors who contribute over 50 million KRW to have their donation matched by the university, creating a substantial scholarship fund. Since Professor Kwon’s donation, others have followed suit, leading the fund to exceed 5 billion KRW in total within just two years. In recognition of his contributions, Professor Kwon was recently inducted into the Keimyung Bridge Honors Club, and we had a meaningful conversation with him.

Seven books authored by Keimyung University professors have been selected as 2024 Excellent Academic Books by the National Academy of Sciences of Korea. The selected books include two in the humanities and also two in the social sciences, and three in the natural sciences. A volunteer program took place in Hanoi and Da Nang, Vietnam, from August 12th to 21st. The main activities included cultural volunteering with Taekwondo, traditional Korean dance, and offering educational support for high school students. There were also cultural exchange events and study abroad information sessions. On August 27th, Keimyung University held a retirement ceremony for long-serving faculty and staff. The staff retirement ceremony was held at Hengso Museum, where three staff members, including Mr. Park Jong-man, retired. President Synn Il-hi expressed his gratitude for their contributions. The faculty retirement ceremony took place at Ui-yang Hall, where six professors, including Professor Kim Yeon-ok, retired. The 2024 Bridge to Keimyung Camp was held from July 9th to 27th. The camp was divided into two sessions. The first session was attended by invitees from external organizations, while the second session included students from partner institutions. These partner students came from various countries. Second, we cooperated and communicated with the local principals, school teachers, public officials, and residents. Third, we provided them with guidance on their lives. Q. Could you briefly introduce your activities in Ethiopia? There are three main categories of overseas service in Ethiopia: cultural service, educational service, and hard work. Cultural service refers to performing in a month-long performance that we have prepared,and educational service refers to teaching students, and finally hard work refers to repairing aging facilities. In particular, in the case of educational service, a local interpreter was in the middle of interpretingwhat we are teaching. It was a special experience for these local interpreters because they were volunteered by the
