On February 9, the Department of Athletics concluded MOU in regard to the common interest in cultural exchange related with physical education, with the Vietnam public peace department.Both parties are cooperated with each other in various fields of sports and Taekwondo, and through their mutual cooperation they can have joint training and can exchange information and their experts. In addition, there is an intensive Korean language teaching program for Vietnamese in this MOU. The MOU is expected to increase the amount of exchanges between the two departments in the future.

On January 19, President Synn Il-hi received a letter of appointment as the Italian honorary consul to Korea, authorized by the Italian Government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Korea at the special conferment ceremony in the Korean and Italian Association’s ordinary general meeting. It is assumed that this appointment is to acknowledge President Synn’s non-governmental diplomatic ability in improving bilateral friendly relations of the two countries and his big role in founding the Korean and Italian Association in January, 2006. Professors from the College of Environment are to support their students by providing funds. They made an agreement to make a fund that should be used to help needy students. Professors will pay an endowment for a period of ten years and this money will be used for scholarships. Professors from the College of Environment have often helped disabled and parentless families. Even though the money is not enough to help everyone, it will make a difference. Some professors from the College of Environment regularly donate the necessities of life and spend time with the disabled.

For the first time, a private organization of Korea, Keimyung University, via its 'Keimyung 1% sharing love' project, donated money to Africa, parts of which are suffering from hunger and disease. From last August, after an outbreak of cholera, more then 35,000 people have been infect, and 1,700 people died in Zimbabwe due to the disease. On December 18, Lee Seung-sun, a professor from the Department of Composition in Keimyung University, won a prize for his composition at the 1st Korean Opera Award with his work, Asadal and Asanyo. The award was held by the Korea Opera Group and Kimchakyung Opera Group to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the starting of opera in Korea. His work, Asadal and Asanyo, was performed at the 2004 and 2007 Daegu International Opera Festival and the 2000 Gyeongju World Culture Expo.
