The opening ceremony for the Keimyung Intensive Teacher Training (KITT) program was held under the auspices of the Center for International Education on March 5 in the Annex of Bauer Hall. The program`s aim is to increase the teaching skills and abilities of secondary school teachers. Sixty-five English teachers will be trained in Keimyung University over 5 months and then they will be trained for one month in either America, at San Diego State University; or Australia, at the University of Queensland. When you are suddenly sick, where do you go? A hospital? A pharmacy? Our university has a place like a hospital and a pharmacy. The Student Health Center in Keimyung University is located in Bauer Hall (104-106). The health center section chief, two nurses, and a dental hygienist work in this center. From 1999, students visited on average 10,443 times, and staff of the school visited 1,325 times a semester. On average about 10 foreigners visited the center a month last year. Keimyung University increased tuition fees by 6.4% in 2007. The university and student representatives negotiated 12 times from January 16 to 30 before finally agreeing on that amount. Its goal is to help Keimyung women develop their skills and abilities for getting jobs and developing successful careers. Mexico’s national taekwondo team visited Keimyung University for training. The Taekwondo Center of Keimyung University was asked to train the team by the Mexican government. The team has 18 male and 7 female members made up of national, provincial, city, senior, and junior members. They trained with Keimyung taekwondo students at the amphitheater and the Taekwondo Center from January 7 to 28 while staying in Myunggyo dormitory. First freshmen of Keimyung International College (KIC) had the Head Start Program from February 20 to 24.The students stayed in KELI House, and they had classes such as Study Skills Workshop, Learning Style Analysis & Discussion, Movie and Discussion, and Video Interviews, with foreign professors and orientation.
