Synn Il-hi, KMU president, visited Poland and Hungary from February 19 to 26 to develop relationships with two European universities. He first visited Jakiellonian University to finalize an exchange agreement about exchange scholarships, student exchange programs and exchanges of professors and staff. Also, President Synn visited Liszt Conservatoire in Budapest, Hungary. He discussed an activation plan for the Kodaly program and a joint degree in conservatoire. President Synn said, “I am very glad about the scholarship exchange agreement with prestigious universities in Europe.”
On Jan. 10, U.S. Ambassador Mark Lippert visited Keimyung University’s Taekwondo Center. Ambassador Lippert has a huge interest in Taekwondo, so he visited KMU Taekwondo Center and watched a taekwondo performance. KMU’s Taekwondo Performance Team has won many awards for taekwondo techniques and gymnasticsAmbassador Lippert said, “Every country has their own distinct martial art. Korea’s taekwondo is attractive enough to be an Olympic event. Rather than focusing on attacking, developing spirit and skills to defend oneself are the attractive element of Taekwondo.”
It is currently a topic of interest in the Keimyung University online community that a student gave a security guard a camp bed.The student is a Keimyung Engineering College student, and he wrote that the guard slept on a small desk not a bed.After writing about this situation, a camp bed was delivered in front of the night-duty room within a few days. On December 22, a free semester system event was held by KMU. Its purpose was to advocate the free semester system and to improve public education across all schools.In this event, there were 20 experience booths which consisted of representative departments from each university. On October 6, 2016, the 3rd Keimyung Goethe Golden Bell Competition was held at the College of Business Administration. This event was hosted by the KMU Goethe Institute and was supervised by the Department of German Language and Literature. The competitors gathered from a diversity of universities throughout Korea.
