The Keimyung Cultureful Festival was held on October 1 and 2 by the 36th Whole Club Union. The 3 events called ‘the Truth, Justice and Love’ were opened in 3 different places, around The Bauer Hall and the Main Stadium, and in front of the Main Gate of KMU. Also, on the Red Block streets in front of the east gate, there were concerts. Many students enjoyed the festival by participating in the events and eating snacks from the food trucks and booths.
The 6th Hyundai Motor Group Drama & Music Festival for Universities, which is Korea’s largest scale fesitval, was held on September 2. 23,000 students and 75 teams from 65 universities participated in this festival. Urine Town’s musical which is a team from the Stage Play and Musical Department at Keimyung University won the grand prize for the best individual director prize, and the bronze trophy for group performance at this year’s University Musical Festival which was the biggest ever. On September 20, 2018 a University Recruit Tour was held at Keimyung University. This event was hosted by Daegu Metropolitan City and conducted by Daegu Chamber of Commerce and Keimyung University. There was a total of 34 participants including Daegu Bank who set up booths to offer on-site job interviews and recruitment consulting. Also at the fair, Keimyung alumni that had already entered firms gave special lectures about blind recruitment processes and hosted mini talks to solve students’ curiosity. 12 institutions, including public institutions, that had proactively relocated to innovative
Students at Keimyung University held a Flea Market on September 10th and 11th of this semester. A total of four colleges: Business Administration, Engineering, Social Science and Artech College, voluntarily participated in the flea Market at the small stadium of Seongseo Campus, and collected 3,000 items of clothing and necessities. Students visited Sinae Orphanage, a social welfare company, on September 15th to donate all of their profits. Moreover, about 200 items that were left after the sale were donated to The Beautiful Store and at this very meaningful event.
The Keimyung archery team has received lots of attention due to record setting performances in a few contests this year. Park Sung-cheol, a member of the team, got first place in the All-Korea Archery Tournament. Park won a gold medal by recording 331 points in the 90m event, and set a new record by recording 349 points in the 70m event. Moreover, he won the triple crown by also getting the gold medal in the 50m event. This is his second straight win after having received two gold medals in the last contest. The Hengso Museum of Keimyung University was selected as the University Museum Promotion Project for 2018. From August 1st to November 30th, an education program for the Hengso Museum Relics Explorer program will be held. The program is renamed as the experience and exploration of cultural relics combined with cultural properties representing the Hengso Museum. People from low-income and multicultural families, as well as elementary, middle, high school and college students are able to participate for free. Keimyung University is currently operating the Keimyung LINC + Creative School and has committed to leading the effort to foster experts in the local performing arts field. The Keimyung LINC + Creation School was led by professors and university students at KMU and was offered to 20 students from Gachang Middle School from July 23 to 27. The acting classes were held in the morning and singing and dancing classes continued in the afternoon. The Hengso Museum at KMU will hold the 3rd culture lecture with the theme ‘Modern and Contemporary Art Through Personage’. Since 2016, the Hengso Museum has held various lectures that introduce not only Korean culture but also western and eastern cultures. During this lecture, there are also two opportunities for the exploration of the art museum by looking around Korean modern art.
