(Interviewee: Arthur / IT Department / Senior in University) It’s a little bit difficult to make new friends but I’m trying. Many Korean people are shy, so talking with them is difficult sometimes. My tip on making new friends is, “Don’t be shy.” Because I am too shy to talk with other people, sometimes I want to talk but I’m too shy to do so. So, don’t be shy, it’s not a problem. We don’t have to hesitate to talk to other people. I usually start the conversation by asking questions to them, like what their major is and what they do in Keimyung University. After these, I would probably ask abo

(Interviewee: Luy / Major in International Commerce / Sophomore in University) I’m good at making friends most of the times unless there is someone whom I want to stay away from. I like making friends, but I want to keep the number controlled because I want to stay focused on my studying and I cannot manage it all with too many friends to hang out with. I don’t have a special method for being friends with others. I talk to the people I often see in classes or in the campus, be friends with them, and then be friends with the friends of my new friends. Like a tree branching out.

(Interviewee: Miriam / Department of Linguistics / Junior in University) I usually spend a lot of time on choosing my classes. In the beginning of my studies, I planned what classes I would like to take in what semester so that I all makes sense and that I can graduate soon. But sometimes, my plan does not work because two of the classes I planned to take are at the same time. So I take a long time replanning everything. When I have my schedule, I usually prepare all my stationary stuff. I also buy the books if I already know which ones we will use. And then a few weeks before the new semester
February 6 at 4:17 A.M., a major earthquake of 7.8 magnitude scale occurred near a Turkish town called Gaziantep in south-eastern Turkey. The earthquake took place near the border between Turkey and Syria, causing damage in ten southern Turkish provinces and four Syrian provinces, along the fault line of 100 km. A week has passed since. The damaged site is still filled with remains of buildings and rescue workers. The rescue units have been working night and day to dig out the survivors and the dead bodies. The operation is particularly difficult as many buildings crashed down and most people

I think what I expected was joining a lot of programs here. I saw, before coming here, that there are a lot of festivals in campus. It’s a big thing in Korea, like this year opening festivals, something like that. Because I don’t have that in my university. So, it was really nice to open the new semester like that. There were stands around the campus where you can get some snacks and stuff. It was very new to me. What I missed is a sort of get-together for the international students. One of my friends goes to a university in Berlin. He said that they have this get-together in the beginning of

Mahsa Amini, also known as Jina Amini, was an ordinary Iranian woman. On September 13, Amini was arrested by the country’s morality police for wearing a hijab improperly. Despite the police announcement that her cause of death was a heart attack, witnesses said that she was harshly beaten by the police before her death. Her mysterious death incensed Iranian citizens and sparked protests all over the country. “Zan, Zandegi, Azadi” (Women, Life, Freedom) During the past two months since the outbreak of the protests in September
Probably, trying to communicate with other students because we have this language barrier. Either the students are very shy, or they don’t know English. And I don’t know Korean. It’s kind of hard when we try to talk because then it just feels like we go back and forth and back and forth. Typically, when I’m in class, my teachers my teachers can speak in Korean and in English. But when I’m paired up with students, some of the students can’t speak English, and I can’t speak in Korean. It’s like we are trying to pick words. I’m trying to build my vocabulary, and they try to build theirs. And it f
At the library, the distinction between the entrance door and the exit door was kind of confusing. Because normally, the entrance door is on the right. But we wanted to go into the door on the left because the door on the right had a sign written in red. And normally, the red sign on the door means the exit or do not enter here. So, we wanted to enter on the other side, and then we found out that it actually is the other way around. Also, one time, we went to the library. And when you go to the library, you have to reserve a seat on the application before you sit down, Clicker. But we didn’t k
