  • Special Lecture for Jane Austen

    To celebrate Jane Austen, a celebrated author who is as popular as Shakespeare despite only publishing 8 works, a lecture was offered on October 24th. Professor Yeong-sun Won from Seoul Woman’s University gave a lecture on Jane Austen’s introduction to love affairs through her literature, Pride and prejudice. Also, through a Q&A session, she resolved misunderstandings about Jane Austen. The lecture was hosted by the Core project team and the Department of English Language and Literature to mark the 200th anniversary of her death.   • Ambassador of Colombia Visited KMU

    On October 13th, the ambassador of Colombia visited Keimyung University and met KMU students who attended his lecture. The lecture was for about an hour and the ambassador introduced Colombia and expressed an expectation of the development of relationships between Korea and Colombia. There were some quizzes and a Q&A session so that students could participate in the lecture. Colombia was the only country from South America which helped Korea during the Korean War and KMU also has a special relationship with Colombia.   • Whole Club Union Festival

    From the 25th to 26th of September, the Whole Club Union festival was held. Various clubs from KMU prepared taverns and events in front of Bauer Hall and in minor ground to advertise their club’s activities. To celebrate the festival, the band club performed on the 25th, and also rapper Woo Won-Jae came to celebrate with a performance on the 26th.Though many clubs and students participated, the minor ground felt a little empty. More promotions and more interests are needed to attract more people and to makemore fun festival which will the goal for the next festival.

  • Multual Exchange Program of Humanities Lectures

    KMU has decided to proceed with a Mutual Exchange Program of Humanities Lectures with Dong-A University and Hanyang University to vitalize the field of the humanities. The Mutual Exchange Program, which is based on the CORE program from the three universities, was carried forward through an agreement last August, and the first exchange lecture will be on September 15th with others continuing until December for a total of four scheduled exchange lectures.   • Exchange Program by the Ministry of Education

    Keimyung University student Hye-Ryung Choi was selected for a government sponsored exchange program by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Ports, Science and Technology (MEXT). Hye-ryung, who is majoring in Japanese Language and Literature, will leave to Japan this October where she will study at Okinawa Ryuku University for one year. She will enjoy some benefits such as tuition exemption, receive a free return flight ticket and a scholarship every month of about 1.2 million Korean won.   • Visiting Enterprises with CORE Project

    From August 22nd to August 23rd, the CORE project group in KMU carried out the Humanities Integrated Enterprise Inquiry in Jeju. The group went to the head office of KAKAO, the NEXON Computer Museum, the Lee Jung Seop Art Museum and International Convention Center Jeju. Keimyung University Hosts International Fashion Show Celebrating 125th Anniversary On October 30th, the Department of Fashion Design hosted the International Fashion Show Celebrating Keimyung University’s 125th Anniversary at a special stage in front of the main building on Daemyung Campus. The event featured participation from prestigious fashion institutions, including Donghua University in China, Maranatha Christian University in Indonesia, Ueda College of Fashion in Japan, and the National Institute of Art and Design in Uzbekistan. French Exchange Students Cultural Adventure in Daegu On November 8th, 2024, 77 French exchange and study-abroad students participated in a unique cultural excursion in Daegu, sponsored by the DGIEA Korean-Italian Association. The day’s itinerary included a visit to Gunparkrugi Theme Park, an engaging persimmon-picking experience at Songgeum Green Rural Village, and a thrilling rail bike ride. The event provided the students with a meaningful opportunity to immerse themselves in Korea’s cultural and rural heritage while enjoying memorable outdoor activities.
