KMU received a presidential citation at the 13th Innovative Technology Competition for developing technology for small and medium companies’ development. Only KMU received the presidential award among the country’s 4-year universities. Also, KMU received 5% of research funding in 2012 to supplement research and to help businesses.Evaluation standards were goal achievement (40), technology (30), the possibilities of utilizing it in real industry (20), and how much a university tries to develop technology to help small and medium companies. The 2012 Korean Language and Culture Training Camp were held for three weeks from August 6 to August 24. 170 foreign students from Germany, Japan, France, and the United Kingdom participated in this camp. The students in the camp visited Korea to learn about Korean culture and language. Classes consisted of Korean culture classes such as graded Korean language lessons, hanbok experience, samulnori, taekwondo, traditional crafts, and traditional food of Korea. Also they visited Korean heritage sites such as Gyeongju, Yeongju, and Cheongdo to see historic sites and to experience Korean culture.
