The musical Blind Love, performed by the Department of Theatre Arts, won third prize at the 2nd GM Daewoo University Musical Festival on October 29th. Twenty university teams participated in the festival with 6 teams making the final round. Blind Love is about the love between a mother and daughter, the love between men and women, and the love between friends. The Department of Japanese Language and Literature won first prize at the Sixth Japanese Drama Festival on October 21. Students performed selected scenes from the Korean play, Onggojibjeon in Japanese. The students' high level of Japanese and good acting ability contributed to them winning first prize. At the 87th National Sports Festival, Keimyung University contributed to Daegu's good results with 3 gold medals, 3 silver medals, and 3 bronze medals. One hundred and forty six students from Keimyung University participated in 13 sports including baseball, archery, judo, track and field, taekwondo, and tennis. Our archers earnt the best results with 2 gold medals, a silver medal, and a bronze medal. Archer Lee Hyo-kyoung won a gold medal and a silver medal. The Center for International Education held the second Foreign Students' Korean Song Contest in Bauer Hall on Wednesday, November 1. The contest, in which 14 teams participated, was divided into two sections. The foreign students could practice Korean with enjoyment. Between October 31 and November 2, Dongsan Library held a festival on the Sungseo campus. This festival was the 7th since the year 2000. The festival was started to celebrate the opening of the library to the general community.The main events are a book exhibition, an event of sharing books, a special movie showing, a questionnaire, and a small music concert. The president of Keimyung University, Lee Jin-woo, was invited to give a speech to the 11th Corp (Choong-ryoul Corp). His speech was made to encourage the soldiers. After the speech, he had a meal with the soldiers and gave them moral support.
