Keimyung University graduates who worked as overseas volunteers visited Keimyung on April 25.About 500 students who have participated in overseas volunteers since 2011 organized the Keimyung Dream Team. And they had a homecoming day event at the Main Field on Seongseo campus. They shared some experiences from China, Nepal, Vietnam, Mongolia, the Philippines, Cambodia, and Laos, where they did volunteer work together. Park Ye-ji from KAC (Keimyung Adams College) has been accepted as an intern by the UN. She joined the 69th session of the Third Committee last October. The 3rd Committee deals with environmental, human rights, and economic justice issues.To join the UN, she did tests. She passed the application phase and essay test. She had perfect individual interview scores on the test to select participants and got a chance to speak about social development at the UN Headquarters on October 8. KMU president Synn Ilhi visited Sri Lanka March 23 to 27. He had a meeting with Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and signed an academic exchange agreement. They discussed scholarship and cultural exchange in this meeting. Through the agreement, KMU plans to have student and faculty exchanges, research cooperation, academic conferences and seminars, and education programs with Moratuwa University and Peradeniva University. On March 21, Keimyung University held a Nowruz event. Nowruz is a holiday in Central Asian countries such as Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan, and Pakistan celebrating the spring equinox. Students from the Department of Textile Design received recognition because of items that they designed and exhibited at Preview in Daegu (PID). PID is an event where all new materials are gathered with prominent buyers from all around the world. Students show unique new fashion trends, apparel textile designs and knitting fabric books to buyers. They made four themed collections with professors during last winter vacation. From February 23 to March 2, doctors from KMU’s Dongsan Medical Center helped indigent Vietnamese patients in Vietnam., Doctor Han Ki-Hwan from the Cleft Lip and Palate Facelift Center of Dongsan Medical Center and eight volunteers operated on thirty patients with cleft lips or palates in Long An Segaero Hospital in Vietnam.Cleft lip and palate is one of the most common congenital malformations where the lip and the roof of the mouth (palate) fail to form properly.
