On September 4, the 26th KMBS (Keimyung Broadcasting System) Broadcasting Festival was held under the theme 'Beat the Heart' in the audio-visual Room of Bauer Hall. Recently, 'World a Musical Contest of Auspices of the Dresden Opera House in Germany' opened in Seoul with auspices of the German Embassy and, Jeon Sang-min, a tenor who graduated from Keimyung University, was selected in the final. On September 6, he is going to participate as Korea's representative tenor. On Feb.2 he graduated from the department of Vocals, and he has since been awarded many prizes within the country. This concert by the Dresden Opera House is very highly regarded and respected.
Lee Ho-young (junior, Dept. of Industrial Design) won a prize at the Red Dot Design Awards 2009 held in the Singapore. This award is widely recognized along with two other awards, IDEA of America and IF of Germany. Lee won the prize in the design concept field.Lee’s Road Printer is a kind of printing machine which prints out road markings or traffic lanes automatically by using the principle of computer printers. He got a high appraisal for using an environmentally-friendly design using solar power. The concept of his work came from seeing people printing lanes directly on the road in summer.
On July 31th, the first half year of the 2009 Korean language course ceremony was held in the multimedia room on the 3rd floor of the new Bauer Hall, sponsored by Dong Yeong Hall (the Center for International Education). The Department of Theatre Arts of Keimyung University held a charity performance for people with special needs, and low-income families’ teenagers, on August 4 and 7. This department has often organized these kinds of performances for local residents and teenagers. From July 20 to August 13,a summer school for local community teenagers was held at Keimyung University. The program was held at the College of Music and Performing Arts (violin, cello, vocal, piano, organ, modern dance, ballet), the College of Fine Arts (watercolor, calligraphy, design, drawing, computer graphics, animation), and the College of Physical Education (taekwondo).
