The KMU Health Care Center will offer Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) education from September to December of 2023. Standard CPR and automatic external defibrillator training will be provided. There will be 1 hour of theory and 2 hours of practical training. The theory lessons will teach the principles and contents of emergency activities, safety rules during emergency rescue, laws and regulations related to emergency medical services, and basic lifesaving techniques. The KMU-CCAP (KMU Cross Cultural Awareness Program), hosted by KMU International Lounge, is a program in which a CEV(Cultural Exchange Volunteer) and a KIV(Korean Interpretation Volunteer) form a team to deliver multicultural classes in elementary, middle, and high school for 1~3 times during this semester. This program will take place from October to December. During the class, CEV introduces the culture of their country and the KIV interprets the contents and acts as an intermediary role between the CEV and the schoolteacher so they can communicate smoothly. The International Children’s Game DAEGU 2023 (ICG DAEGU 2023) held a side event near the dormitory and small playground at Keimyung University from July 5th to 10th, 2023. Various attractions and experience booths such as traditional cultural experiences and music band performances were operated on the campus of Keimyung University.
‘Art Velly Asan First Foreign K-Teuroteu Song Contest’ is hosted by Asan, South Chungcheong Province. The purpose of this event is to advertise Asan, the city of culture, and to make people from various countries understand Korean culture by teuroteu contest. All the international students in Keimyung University can apply in this contest. Sign-up form and song video file submissions are necessary to participate in this event. The final is held on September 2nd.
On Thursday, July 13th, 2023 Korean Language and Korean Culture Camp was held in Keimyung University’s Hanhak Village. The foreigners who part in the event learned Korean traditional tea manners.
On September 5th and 12th, the Songpa District Office will run Korean Food Cooking Classes for people from other countries living in Korea. The classes will be held from 2:30 to 5:30 pm, and each class will make the Korean dishes dak-bokkeumtang (braised spicy chicken) and pajeon (green onion pancake). The class will be held at Garak Mall Cooking Studio 4F (932 Yangjaedae-ro, Songpa-gu, Seoul). Participants can enjoy Korean food and culture for free by making and eating Korean food.
On Monday, April 3rd, 2023, Convergence X-Space opened on the third floor of the Dongsan Library. It is a space where students can freely discuss and carry out projects.
A new project called Breakfast for 1,000 won was created from the donation by faculty and staff of 1% of their salary, and will be operated from May 8th to June 21st to help Keimyung University students improve their eating habits. The breakfast will be provided to 200 people on a first-come, first-served basis from 8:30 am to 11:00 am on weekdays in Bauer Hall basement restaurant.
