October 9 just happened to be the day I realized I had no idea for this column. Luckily for me, that was also the day that Kim Jeong-il decided to test his supposed nuclear bomb. For a time, news of the North’s test dominated the world’s headlines as the world waited to see what would happen next. How would the world react? How would Kim Jeong-il react to the world’s reaction? That was also the same week that Ban Ki-moon was appointed to be the next United Nations Secretary-General. With the Korean Peninsula the centre of the world’s attention, it seemed like the topic of my column was chosen
Although I have been teaching English at Keimyung University for the Fashion & International Specialist Education Program for almost six years, I cannot forget my experience in Sang-ju City.My first home was New York City where I was born, raised and educated. I attended The City College of New York for my Bachelor of Arts degree (magna cum laude) in English and American Literature. My second home was Boulder, Colorado where I attended the University of Colorado at Boulder for two wonderful years while earning my Master of Arts degree in English Literature and Creative Writing.Years later, I w

We can easily see Keimyung University campus in movies and dramas. "Ditto," "Hourglass," "Legend of Ambition," "Crazy First Love," and many movies and dramas (about 30 works) have been made in our campus. While making "White Night" 3.98 in Daemyung campus, the director, Kim Jong-hak, who also made "Hourglass," said Keimyung University is the best place for making movies and dramas.Overall, our campus is influenced by Greek traditional architecture. Doric pillars are the most important in the Doric style. The two main administration buildings and the main entrance in Sungseo campus have Doric p
“Passport and tickets?” “Check.” “Money?” “Check.” “What have we forgotten?” “Can’t think of anything.” “Alright, gapsida!” Do these words sound familiar? Do you have a little routine that you go through, either silently or out loud, before you leave on a trip? I almost always find it necessary to alleviate the little nagging doubt in my head that, all appearances to the contrary, something has been forgotten. Alas, sometimes, as in this summer vacation, it happens. For the first time in my life (I think), I managed to forget not one, but two things: my sunglasses and my camera. Pure gen
The Internet achieves many things at the click of a finger. It helps people buy goods, attend lectures, gain information, and meet friends everywhere. In my case, getting information and connecting to my friends became my daily task. I searched for my articles' materials and gained information about the places I would travel to for my articles. More importantly, I could meet my elementary school friend while backpacking around Europe thanks to the Internet. When I was a middle school student, my friend immigrated to Germany unexpectedly. I could not get in touch with her; however, I connected
In the Last edition, Professor Lyons shared with us his love of walking. In this edition, I'd like to do the same and share with you my own favorite form of transportation: taxis. My uncle owned a taxi and let me drive it, basically, whenever I wanted to. Most Saturday nights, whilst a student, I could be seen whizzing around town taking sober people out to get drunk and then later, home again. The Saturday night shifts were my favorite for two reasons: I made money instead of spent it, and I got to meet about 300 people a night. They really were fun times. The job was so much more than talking
