The 53rd anniversary of Keimyung University and a conferring or honorary doctorate were held at Adams Chaple on May 18 at 10:30a.m.
Heo Do-hwa, the director of the Chaplain's Office presided over the ceremony, while Kim Seong-eun, professor of architecture and head of administrative staff, outlined the history of the university. This was followed by awards to outstanding professors and the conferring of honorary doctorates. Lee Mun-hui, the Roman Catholic archbishop of Daegu, received an honorary doctorate in philosophy, Joe Hae-nyeong, former mayor of Daegu, received an honorary doctorate in public administration and Ryu Byeong-seon, chairman of Youngdo Velvet, received an honorary doctorate in business administration.
President Lee Jin-woo also delivered a congratulatory address. He said, "Keimyung University is not just a regional university. The university and the region will grow together." The ceremony then concluded with an appreciation of Shin Ilhi, chairman of the Board of Trustees.
