A lecture by the Chinese Ambassador to Korea, Nyeong Bu Gwi, was given on November 22 in Smith Hall. The lecture was hosted by the Department of Chinese Studies. Ambassador Nyeong made China’s position clear about the problem between Korea and China. He said, “It is not all true what the Korean press announced about the Northeast Asian Project, Koguryo's history, the Baekdu Mountain Project, and the assumption of a territorial dispute. That is just one viewpoint of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, not a formal opinion of China.”
He insisted that Korea and China should be partners in exchange and said, “China should admit to the diversity between our nations and conclude an agreement of free trade with Korea. This will be very helpful to develop economic trade between our two civilized countries.
