Letters from Readers

I knew about the “Gazette” in the past, and I read this magazine as a freshman. At that time I lost sight of the “Gazette,” but this time the magazine attracted my attention through the article about Prince Yeonsan. Because I was amused by “The King and the Clown,” No. 120 appealed to me. “The Screen Quota” in “Society” and “Prince Yeonsan” caught my eye.

I had a chance to inspect this magazine carefully. Aside from the article about movies, “Interview” was easy on the eye and helped me to prepare for employment. The interview with Baek Seung-hee, who passed a unique interview, offered me a different sight of a job interview. It was very helpful to me.

“Bogyeong Temple in Pohang” and “Impression of Traveling in Australia” were interesting articles to me because I was busy getting ready for my summer vacation at that time. The article about Bogyeong Temple in “Let’s Go on a Visit” and the pictures and the travel sketch excited me. I found a desire to drop by Bogyeong Temple in my vacation.

I feel inconvenience because the “Gazette” is issued four times a year. I think the more the “Gazette” is published, the more students will like it. I am also really appreciative of the “Gazette” staff for this present, the “Keimyung Gazette.” I’m looking forward to seeing No. 121.

I have been reading the “Gazette” for four years. I think that this magazine helps foreign students who want to obtain information about our university. It is a global and educated magazine, and it is easy for students to hold in their bags all the time due to the light weight. I am satisfied with the informed contents. So I collected many editions while I was in Keimyung University. When I graduate from school maybe I think that I will miss the “Gazette.” Most of all, the covers of the “Gazette” always attract my attention. That is why I am interested in the “Gazette.” The cover of “Gazette” No.120 had a variety of World Cup pictures. During the World Cup season I cheered for our soccer players with my family and friends in Duryu Park. Through this cover, I think back when our nation was unified. The cover consisted of 2002 World Cup pictures instead of 2006 World Cup pictures. I was disappointed. We want to enjoy the latest pictures. It needs a more detailed explanation of the pictures. If this matter is improved, the “Gazette” will be a perfect magazine.

The “Zoom-In” story was so useful to me, especially the article about job interviews that focused on seniors. It was so detailed that I could understand it easily. Job interviews are a common interest for most students, so I thought that subject was the best selection. I guess this edition was more popular than even before and assume that more people will recognize the “Gazette.” Through this article I can prepare for a job interview effectively.

If it is possible, I want to obtain more information about employment through the next edition. Can I expect that? Lastly, I would like to extend my thoughts to all staff who help the magazine get published. Thanks for teaching me useful information and giving me the opportunity to contribute and help the magazine develop. I am looking forward to seeing a better “Gazette.”

My first impression, after reading “Gazette” No.120, was that it was quite interesting and informative to some point, especially the two sections that dealt with “Excused Absence for Women’s Menstruation” and “Screen Quota.” I really felt for women who have to come to terms with a painful magical period every month, and I had a chance to give it a lot of thought. But it would have been better if there been had an interview with some men for this matter because I don’t think most men would say, “It’s outrageous,” to it and we could compare both sides.

In the section about screen quotas, I gained a lot of information about it and the FTA, which was very worth reading. What I was disappointed in was the fact that it couldn’t live up to my expectations, especially “An Interview” and “King Konglish” because most contents didn’t exceed our common knowledge. Most of us already know what we need to prepare in general. What we really need is good examples like what kind of questions executives usually ask or useful sites that can help us in a great measure. The level of “King Konglish” is pretty low considering we’re university students.

I recommend that you add foreign culture, international news gaining momentum, and an idiom section that can be used frequently using examples or scripts from some sitcoms like “Friends” with some dialogue, which I think would be very intriguing for most students. I really appreciate your efforts and sweat, and look forward to seeing an improved “Gazette” next time.
