Keimyung University Opens ‘Conducting Academy’ with Kwak Sung


Keimyung University President Synn declared that the ‘Conducting Academy’ will open in the College of Music and Performing Arts under the guidance of the National Symphony Orchestra conductor, Kwak Sung. The academy provides a unique, high level opportunity for talented conductors to work and improve their conducting ability.

The academy is open to anyone majoring in music and possessing some prior conducting experience. It will provide 16 classes (32hrs) every week. Kwak Sung, an honorary professor of KMU, will give a lecture on conducting techniques, orchestral conducting, reading music notes and more. The academy offers free tuition fee to selected enrollees through telephone interviews.

KMU said, “The conducting academy is set up to foster young talented conductors under the guidance of the maestro Kwak Sung. Also, enrollees will receive a completion certificate upon finishing the one-year course and have a chance to rehearse with members of the university symphony orchestra.”
