Four students from the Keimyung Global-Up team won at the 2009 Global Frontier for University Students, which has the aim to help university students becoming globally competent people and to gain helpful knowledge for employment sponsored by Job Korea and Hanatour. Job Korea selects several teams who submit the best projects and they sponsor those teams by giving them an opportunity to tour overseas countries. Project subjects should be in one of 4areas, engineering and technology, natural science, humanities and culture and art, and economies and business. Projects from participating teams were received from September to November, and the final result was announced in December. The Global-Up team members were Kim Heon-jeong (sophomore, Dept. of Tourism Management), Kim Hee-jeong (junior, Dept. of Tourism Management), Ryu Jae-jeong (sophomore, Dept. of Business Administration), and Kim Bo-geon (sophomore, Dept. of Accounting).

In this idea challenge, only fifty teams were selected from among 2280 participating teams. The selected teams got the opportunity to tour overseas countries which are related to their projects with funds of 5,000,000 won. The Global-Up team got a high grade in their project about ways to improve Korean tourist information centers' service to tourists. For six days, they plan to visit Tourism Auckland and tourist information centers in Hamilton, Tirau, and Rotorua in New Zealand to investigate services for tourists there and compare them to Korean tourist information centers.

The Global-Up team, said, “We think the 2011 Daegu IAAF World Championship in Athletics can be a good chance to make Daegu widely known to many foreigners and to advertise the tourist attractions Daegu city has. For this reason, the role of Daegu Tourist Information Center is important. With reference to successful cases in overseas countries, we hope to learn about the good services tourist information centers there have and help to upgrade tourist information centers in Korea.”
