These days, discussions about gender equality are active on SNS and the Internet. Young women raise their voices for gender equality and criticize men’s prejudice against women. However, some men argue that they get reverse discrimination caused by some policies which give consideration only to women, for example, women-only compartments in the subway and parking lots. They also say gender equality in Korea has already been realized. Approximately 2,500 students of various nationalities live in dormitories at Keimyung University and eat meals in the one cafeteria that serves them. The cafeteria that serves the dormitories is located in a corner of campus far from a gate, so it’s easy to eat at the cafeteria and a little difficult to eat off campus. Despite the convenience, many students complain about the dormitory food service system and the food. First, the dormitory meal system is inconvenient and unfair. Korea has many famous mountains such as Seorak, Halla, Baekdu and Bukhan. Every year, many hikers climb them because they all have well-developed trail systems and good facilities. Daegu’s famous mountain is Palgong Mountain, which has many famous hiking trails called ollegils. Today I’ll introduce Palgong Mountain Ollegil 1, which is easy to walk and takes less time than other routes. The trail there and back is 5 km and takes 90 to 120 minutes. On October 7, the Gukje Forum was held at Keimyung University’s Gukje Art Museum. The Gukje Forum was founded in honor of Jeong Jeum-sik, and named as such to commemorate his accomplishments and dedication to the College of Fine Art. The forum’s theme of creativity and innovation was chosen to celebrate the 100 anniversary of Gukje’s birth. Keimyung university students had an opportunity to engage in conversations and debates with international artists, designers, curators and art educators at the forum.
