    On March 8, President Donald J. Trump of United States of America signed an executive order that placed tariffs on steel and aluminum imports. The tariff on steel is 25% but only 10% on aluminum. Canada and Mexico which are countries in NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement) have been temporarily exempted from the tariffs.     The #MeToo movement was started by Alyssa Jayne Milano who was sexually assaulted by movie producer and director Harvey Weinstein. She posted that if you have been the victim of any kind of sexual assault or harassment, don't hesitate to write ‘Me too’on Twitter.   • Ability Reinforcement Program for Faculty

    On March 23rd, the Ability Reinforcement Program for incoming faculty was opened in the New Bauer Hall. This program is based on the education of essential abilities for the newly appointed faculty members and is supported by the Center for Teaching & Learning at KMU. The ability reinforcement has been operating since 2015 and was implemented for the first time at KMU among all universities in Korea.   • Safety and Human Rights Education for Student Activity

    The education for students’ group activity was held on March 14th in Bauer Hall. This education aims at safety education and prevention of human rights abuse for students who belong to student groups without a professor in charge, such as student council and clubs. This training was prepared to lead students to wholesome school group activity. The attendees included not only students but school personnel who directly deal with students.   • Electronic Attendance System

    The Academic Affairs Office of Keimyung University announced that the electronic attendance system will be mandatory from March of this year. Keimyung University implemented the electronic attendance system in the second semester of 2017 when it was still okay for student attendance records to be recorded by hand. However, as of March, every class has to record student attendance through the electronic system on the mobile app or PC.   • Nightingale Pledge Ceremony

    The 2018 College of Nursing Nightingale Pledge Ceremony was held at Johnson Hall on March 9th, 2018. It is a ritual performed by the third year nursing students who have completed two years of basic nursing education. The Nightingale Pledge has been made in the USA since 1893. It is a ceremony where Nursing students pledge nursing ethics and nursing principles, and on that day, students lit candles promising to do their best in nursing.   • KMU - EXCO Business Agreement

    On March 22nd, Keimyung University concluded their industrial-educational cooperation with EXCO for the expansion of the MICE Industry. MICE meeting, incentive, convention, events and exhibition, and is a promising industry led by international conferences and exhibitions. EXCO is an exhibition center located in Buk-gu, Daegu.   • The 4th AsiaㆍPacific Ocean International Chopin Piano Competition

    KMU will hold the 4th AsiaㆍPacific Ocean International Chopin Piano Competition in May 2018. The finalists will participate in the competition from May 9th to May 18th for 10 days. On May 18th, there will be a gala concert, an award ceremony, and a concert for the winners in the Keimyung Art Center. Keimyung University Hosts International Fashion Show Celebrating 125th Anniversary On October 30th, the Department of Fashion Design hosted the International Fashion Show Celebrating Keimyung University’s 125th Anniversary at a special stage in front of the main building on Daemyung Campus. The event featured participation from prestigious fashion institutions, including Donghua University in China, Maranatha Christian University in Indonesia, Ueda College of Fashion in Japan, and the National Institute of Art and Design in Uzbekistan. French Exchange Students Cultural Adventure in Daegu On November 8th, 2024, 77 French exchange and study-abroad students participated in a unique cultural excursion in Daegu, sponsored by the DGIEA Korean-Italian Association. The day’s itinerary included a visit to Gunparkrugi Theme Park, an engaging persimmon-picking experience at Songgeum Green Rural Village, and a thrilling rail bike ride.
