The Keimyung Philosophy Discourse Camp was held from August 17 to August 19 over three days and two nights at the Department of Philosophy. About 60 high school students from Daegu participated in the camp. The students received lectures about Eastern and Western philosophy and had essay writing training. Since 2003, the camp has helped local students practice the logical thinking and writing skills they need to advance in today's society. An agreement for research exchange was reached between Keimyung University Institute for Women’s Studies and Yanbian University’s Research Center of Feminine Issue on June 27. The two universities are cooperating to conduct joint seminars, to do research, and to exchange researchers. 18 seniors from the Department of Nursing participated in a Bethel University training course in Minnesota from June 26 to July 10. They experienced the advanced medical system through the “summer 3 program” of the Mayo Clinic, and visited several medical organizations to do on-the-spot research. Annually, about 20 Keimyung students have joined this program since 2003. From August 8 to 14, Keimyung University and Daegu held the third Daegu International Youth Festival, which is offered annually to university students in the sister cities of Daegu in China, Vietnam, and Japan. It gave 75 attendees and 63 Korean volunteers a chance to exchange their own traditions by learning Chinese folk songs, Japanese traditional dances, and Vietnamese traditional games. The 26th Keimyung Literary Awards consisted of two sessions. In the first session, there was a ceremony for awarding the prizes. 500 pieces of poetry and 100 novels were presented.
