To celebrate the 52th anniversary of the opening of Keimyung University, the Keimyung Press held the 26th Keimyung Literary Awards in Bauer Hall on Monday, May 22. The 26th Keimyung Literary Awards consisted of two sessions.
In the first session, there was a ceremony for awarding the prizes. 500 pieces of poetry and 100 novels were presented. In the poetry section, “Frost Flower”, written by Kim Yun-hee won first prize. Kim Yun-hee is a creative writing sophomore from the Seoul Institute of the Arts. In the novel section, “August” written by Jeon A-ri won first prize. Jeon A-ri is a Yonsei University freshman from the faculty of humanities. To the winner, there was a testimonial and prize money. The poetry prizewinner was awarded one million won and a testimonial and the novel prizewinner was awarded 1.5 million won and a testimonial. In the poetry section, poet Ahn Do-hyun was a judge and in the novel section, novelist Seong Seok-je was a judge.
In the second session, an invitational lecture was given by Kim Do-woo, the famous scriptwriter who wrote the MBC soap opera, “My name is Kim Sam-soon.” The lecture was hosted by the Keimyung Press. Kim Do-woo lectured on the subject of “The Meeting of Art of Drama.” The lecture was followed by a question and answer session. Because these days the job of a scriptwriter is very popular, many students eagerly participated in the session.
