From October 22 to November 2, a Department of Photography design exhibition is being held at Keimyung University and Banwoldang subway stations. The 2007 Dongsan Library Festival will be held in the library from October 30 to November 4. The festival is made up of exhibitions, art performances, and seminars. A music recital and a lecture on the Mapuche, who are the original inhabitants of Chile, were held under the auspices of the Department of Spanish Language and Central and South American Studies in Euiyang Hall on October 2. Lorenzo Aillapan Cayuleo performed traditional Mapuche music and dance. He said, "Mapuche music and dance signify the hope to be a good person." A Rakugo performance was held on October 16 in Smith Hall. This performance was held by the Departments of Japanese Language and Literature and Japanese Studies. Rakugo is one of the most popular traditional Japanese entertainments. It is a kind of comic genre in which an entertainer plays many roles while sitting on a cushion. Shofukutei Kinfei showed a Rakugo performance for two hours using Korean and Japanese to enhance students’ understanding of Japanese culture. Not only our university’s students but also other universities’ students attended this performance and showed a lot of interest.
A presentation about the Worldwide Internship Program (WIP) was held on October 9 in Euiyang Hall. The Center for Student Development runs WIP and it is sponsored by Hospitality Korea (HOSKO) and Internexus. On September 12 in Euiyang Hall, the Department of Accounting in conjunction with the Accountancy Institute of Northeast Asia held a special invitational lecture entitled “Preparation for IFRS and K-GAAP.” This lecture outlined how accountancy standards are changing internationally and the role Keimyung can play in helping Korea to adapt to these changes. Mike Peterson, who spoke at this lecture, explained the differences between International GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), US GAAP, and Korean GAAP and changes that have occurred, while also introducing International Financial
