Daegu National Science Museum held a lecture at Keimyung University on September 24.Gang Sin-won, the curator of Daegu National Scuence museum, gave the lecture. Dr. Gang lectured about big data, smart automobiles and cognitive robotics as growth industries in Korea. He explained the science and technology policies of China and important science news stories. He also talked about exciting fields of science like science in everyday life and genetically modified organisms.In closing, he said that we should make greater efforts to go beyond the current situation.
The second Student Accountancy Competition for university students was held on July 1 at the Korean Chamber of Commerce & Industry National Qualification Exams Center. 1000 people in 125 teams from 78 different universities participated. Kang Hye-won, Kwon An-na, Kim Su-hyun, Kim Su-ho, Ro Kyung-taek, Seo Da-yeon, and Seo Sang-wook teamed up for the team competition. The 3rd National University Students Reading Debate Competition was held in Gunpo on August 27 and 28. Keimyung University Student Eun Yun-su (Sophomore, Department of Politics and Diplomacy) was selected the best panelist.Except for Jeju Island, university students from all regions participated in this debate competition. This competition was held by Gunpo which called City of Books. The competition has 35 finalists who are chosen through qualifiers. Keimyung University’s Confucius Academy has become a leading Chinese teaching program, recently providing scholarships to 30 students who passed the scholarship exam. This academy’s purpose is to help intelligent, international students in Korea to learn Chinese and to encourage students to learn the history and culture of China.This year’s scholarship students consist of 18 students in their first year of training and 12 students studying for a master’s degree. On July 7, Keimyung University was again selected for the ACE (Advancement of College Education) project, after being first selected in 2011. This project receives funds from the Korean Council for University Education and the Ministry of Education. The goals of ACE are strengthening liberal education, reinforcing the competitiveness of faculty, and establishing a system of verification of and feedback on education.Only six universities including KMU were reselected for the project this year.
