On September 27th, the Sangsang Color Festival was held at the small field on Seongseo Campus. The festival featured food and activity boothsrun by internationalstudents, as well as a color zone where participants enjoyed music and threw color powder. On October 7-8th, the Extracurricular Week event was held near The New Bauer Hall at Keimyung University. It included a Student Best Practices Presentation which is an exhibition of over 100 outstanding extracurricular works, and departmental promotion booths. To celebrate the 125th anniversary of KMU, “World Food Day” was held on Wednesday, October 30th. This event provided a valuable opportunity for international students to introduce cuisine from their country, with a total of 17 countries participating and 17 food booths representing the various nations. Seven books authored by Keimyung University professors have been selected as 2024 Excellent Academic Books by the National Academy of Sciences of Korea. The selected books include two in the humanities and also two in the social sciences, and three in the natural sciences. The excellent academic book project publishes about 300 academic books every year. These books will be distributed to university libraries across Korea starting in October. sumin8101g@hanmail.net
A volunteer program took place in Hanoi and Da Nang, Vietnam, from August 12th to 21st. The main activities included cultural volunteering with Taekwondo, traditional Korean dance, and offering educational support for high school students. There were also cultural exchange events and study abroad information sessions. On August 27th, Keimyung University held a retirement ceremony for long-serving faculty and staff. The staff retirement ceremony was held at Hengso Museum, where three staff members, including Mr. Park Jong-man, retired. President Synn Il-hi expressed his gratitude for their contributions. The faculty retirement ceremony took place at Ui-yang Hall, where six professors, including Professor Kim Yeon-ok, retired. In early August, a Foreign Language Clinic Pro gram was held at the International Lounge for middle school students. The program was divided into two classes, Japanese and Chinese, and aimed to make for eign language learning easy and enjoyable. KMU stu dents served as tutors, guiding participants through various activities designed to help them engage with the languages in a fun and interactive way.
The blood donation event, "Blood Donation of Love," organized by the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Social Innovation Support Team and the Korean Red Cross Daegu-Gyeongbuk Blood Center, will be held for three days from May 7th to 9th. The organizers plan to conduct blood donation events at a total of seven locations, including the Seongseo Campus, Daemyung Campus, Blood Donation House at KMU Center, and Keimyung College University Cultural Square.
