On November 16th-17th, 30 international exchange students along with some Korean students from Keimyung University joined a cultural tour in Andong. Organized by the Korean Studies Advancement Center and supported by national and local authorities, the program showcased Korea’s cultural heritage. Participants visited Hahoe Village, Byeongsan Seowon, Buyongdae, Bongjeongsa, and Dosan Seowon. They also experienced traditional activities such as woodblock printing and exploring the Confucian Culture Museum. The tour provided a valuable opportunity to connect with Korea’s cultural history.
On November 8th, 2024, 77 French exchange and study-abroad students participated in a unique cultural excursion in Daegu, sponsored by the DGIEA Korean-Italian Association. The day’s itinerary included a visit to Gunparkrugi Theme Park, an engaging persimmon-picking experience at Songgeum Green Rural Village, and a thrilling rail bike ride. The event provided the students with a meaningful opportunity to immerse themselves in Korea’s cultural and rural heritage while enjoying memorable outdoor activities.
On November 12th, Keimyung University’s archery coach Ryu Su-jeong and alumna Jang Hye-jin were awarded the Cheongnyong Medal at the 2024 Sports Development Merit Awards and the 62nd Korea Sports Awards Ceremony, hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. The Cheongnyong Medal is the highest award among the five levels of sports merit awards, this year, a total of six individuals were honored, including Coach Ryu and alumna Jang in the coach and athlete categories, respectively. On October 30th, the Department of Fashion Design hosted the International Fashion Show Celebrating Keimyung University’s 125th Anniversary at a special stage in front of the main building on Daemyung Campus. The event featured participation from prestigious fashion institutions, including Donghua University in China, Maranatha Christian University in Indonesia, Ueda College of Fashion in Japan, and the National Institute of Art and Design in Uzbekistan. Under the theme, “Arc,” symbolizing growth and vision, the Fashion Show showcased 94 outfits created by Keimyung University’s Fashion Design
The Dongsan Library of Keimyung University held library training for international students. The beginner class was held on November 7th and the advanced class was held on November 12th in X-Space. The program, which was designed to support the academic activities of international students, was divided into two parts: the beginner class, which focused on how to use Korean learning materials; and the advanced class, which covered how to use domestic and international academic articles. sumin8101g@hanmail.net
On November 19th, the K-MOM Adaptation Program was hosted by the Student Counseling Center at Keimyung University. The K-MOM program, which aims to help international students adjust to school life, covered topics such as interpersonal relationships, career, and employment. On November 2nd and 3rd, the Hanmaeum Taekwondo Culture Festival was held at the Seongseo Campus Gymnasium to celebrate the 125th anniversary of Keimyung University. On the first day, the Hanmaeum Taekwondo Cultural Festival was held, with various taekwondo experience booths and the Department of Taekwondo competition.
