The Office of Employment Support signed an agreement with the Daegu Ministry of Labor on April 3 and received 111,300,000 won for the "University Employment Support Grant Expansion Project." Our university, Kyungpook University, and Yeungjin College all received grants to undertake the project from March 31, 2007, to February 29, 2008. These universities will have preferential status when the project participants are chosen in 2008 and 2009.
The universities are responsible for keeping an account of all funds dispersed. Unused funds or money from suspended or ineffective projects must also be returned.
The Office of Employment Support is planning to implement several projects: a university career management program, a special image making course, a job-seeking strategies clinic, a flight attendant experience class, and character and aptitude tests. Sin Geun-sik, the team leader of the office of Employment Support said, "Last year, we did not receive any funds, but this year we are planning projects to help students' employment preparation. These will be announced soon, and I hope many students participate. Depending on this year's experience, we will reappraise whether or not to apply for the project again next year."
The Career Development Center for Female Students, which was set up last August, also received a grant of 85,000,000 won. The center now runs an organizational culture experience camp, a "Career-Up" mentoring club, regional business campus presentations, course selection for female students, a career development class, and a flight attendant experience class.
In addition, various programs are being prepared for students. Yang Jeong-hye, the chief of the center, said, "Our University is interested in the Career Development Center, and it provides financial and administrative support to this center. I hope many female students will visit the Career Development Center and get more information about courses and employment."
