The 5th Global International Internship Congress (GIIC) was held in Keimyung University from April 17 to 20. This congress began in 1999 and is held every two years. It was held under the auspices of the University of Pittsburgh, the University of Michigan, the Daegu Ministry of Labor, and the Korea Tourism Organization.

University professors, staff, and students from twenty countries attended the congress as well as representatives from multinational companies and internship agencies. Various global internship programs were advertised and promoted at the congress's one day fair on April 18.

Congress director Oh Ik-keun, a professor from the Dept. of Tourism Management, said, "I hope this congress will provide lots of practical information about global internships and maybe contribute to Daegu's internationalization."
