The General Student Council’s opening ceremony was held in the open amphitheater of Seongseo campus on March 29. The ceremony started with a congratulatory address by the Chief of Student Affairs, which was followed by speeches by student representatives, and then each department’s student presidents had time to introduce themselves.
Kim Yong-il, the Chief of Student Affairs, said, “Today, Keimyung University also commemorates the 3rd anniversary of the K-Up Project. I hope that students will strive to be great people who challenge themselves and take great pride in our university. Furthermore, I believe that the 2007 freshmen will play a leading role in Keimyung’s development."
After the opening ceremony, the MBC radio program Star Night was broadcasted from the amphitheater with performances by such famous singers and bands as Wonder Girls, Tei, and Cherry Filter. It was a festival that united the students.
The freshmen festival was held between March 27 and 29 on Seongseo and Daemyung campuses. There were many events including a fast eating competition, a food sampling party, and performances by Beat, Vulcanus and Keimyung’s BISA cheering group.
The General Student Council tried to overcome the divisions between the Seongseo and Daemyung campuses by preparing several events at Daemyung campus. However, they had a difficult time going to the Daemyung campus for each event, which resulted in a low participation rate on the Daemyung campus. The General Student Council needs to find a way to solve that problem soon.
